Not good

This is a superficial book which doesn't go into enough depth in fixed income attribution. Instead of filling pages and pages with pictures of different yield curves and outputs of different software to **display** the attribution results (chapter on "presentation" pp121-131), the author could have presented a few in-depth worked examples of how fixed income attribution can be done, from start to finish, for an example fixed income portfolio containing different assets (including government and corporate bonds), against a benchmark. That would have served as a reusable instructive tool. There is one worked example of perturbational attribution, which is for a single Treasury bond. This superficiality lacks any depth to equip one to do attribution on fixed income portfolios. It will not teach you how to do attribution for a portfolio against a benchmark where you have curve, sector allocation, security selection and other decisions.

This book provides an overview and not more. In an attempt to address non-technical readers the author is very short on technical issues such as Nelson-Siegel yield curve approximation. However, to really undertstand these topics I had to consult other sources. Actually, I find the Wikipedia entry for "Fixed Income Attribution" as informative for getting an overview of the topic as this overpriced little book.

Good overview of fixed income attribution. Discusses in general different attribution methodologies. I was hoping that the author would've discussed duration-based attribution in more detail. However, the purpose of my purchase was to get an overview of the topic which the author successfully achieved.

I wrote a 17 page term paper during culinary school in one night with only this book! This book opened my eyes to the incredible chemistry behind baking. If you want to understand why things react the way they do in this medium, I strongly suggest this book!

How Baking Works

This book is as it is discribed. I thought it would give more explaination of why certain things happen when baking. For example if you use cold ingredients like eggs in baking, your cake may bake with a dome in the middle. I didn't find any explainations such as this, only differences between ingredients such as AP Flour and Cake Flour. But not what would happen if you used one as opposed to the other. I was looking for a book that would help me to understand why certain things happen, like why my cake sometimes rises light and airy as opposed to not rising and being heavy. I guess more the results of the chemisty of baking .

I must say I wasn't aware fo the existence oif this book until I read their Quantum Physics title. This book is great to beginners in Physics and Engineering, especially if you choose to use it with another author like Halliday, Resnick & Krane, or Serway.

You haven't studied Newton until you've read this

I came to this book as an undergraduate, with plenty of past experience in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics, and physics. Having used newton's laws of motion in analysis as if it were second nature I was curious about what this book had to offer but did not expect to learn anything new.

I was blown away. The first 6 chapters just discuss the philosophy behind the three laws. If you thought you understood them before, think again. This book was not just eye-opening, it was enlightening. I was understanding these laws in ways I never even imagined these laws had been intended. Far from just being just another look at Newton's laws this book really studies the physics behind the "Applied Mathematics" approach that I had learned mechanics from.

It also teaches you the philosophy of science and makes the CRUCIAL distinction between the deductive and inductive processes of the Scientific Method - something that FEW even among the top graduates seem to recognize these days, and yet it is all-important to ANY aspiring scientist. For that reason alone, I'd recommend that you by the book and read the first few chapters at least, regardless of your field.

Three Books out of one story does not create loyal customers.

I am greatly disappointed that this "book" was merely a few pages of the ending of the story for The Billionaire's First Christmas and the Billionaire's Romance. When you take a story and break it up into three separate books it will not make loyal customers of us. The $2.99 I paid for these few pages of an ending that should have been in the first book was not worth it. I would have bought the Priceless books if I did not believe the author has done the same with those. A loyal customer base is how you will make money not by making three books out of one story. It would be better to write one book and charge a dollar or two more.

Good story line but not worth the money

I liked the story line. However, I was disappointed that the writer chose to make one book into three separate books. The first was free but I wanted to know what happened therefore pitched book 2 &3 for $2.99 each. Not worth $6

I enjoyed the reading material, but was disappointed in the length of the book. I finished the book in less than than two hours. It definitely was not worth $2.99.

Next, drawing on participant observation, interviews, documentaries, and secondary accounts in popular media, she identifies and examines a range of tourist performances enabled by toxic tours. Extended illustrations of the racial, class, and gender politics involved include Louisiana’s —Cancer Alley,— California’s San Francisco Bay Area, and the Mexican border town of Matamoros. Weaving together social critiques of tourism and community responses to toxic chemicals, this critical, rhetorical, and cultural analysis brings into focus the tragedy of ongoing patterns of toxification and our assumptions about travel, democracy, and pollution.

excellent, scholarly examination of toxic tourism

This book provides excellent insight into the nature of the tourism industry as it relates to ecological awareness. Specifically, this book explores toxic tourism, or the traveling to areas that have been heavily polluted, as a form of advocacy tourism that also engages perspective, learning, and understanding about environmental pollution and its effect on various communities and the environment.

In addition, this book is grounded theoretically in understanding tourism through the visual, but also other senses: the feeling of presence through smell, touch, bodily movement, and emotion. Pezzullo explains that the toxic tour often provides the embodiment of counterexperience to our everyday lives, which shapes our process of becoming. However, as Pezzullo observes in the conclusion, we also must remember that tourism, and especially toxic tourism, provides a learning experience, but does not necessarily clean up communities, nor does one actually know the experience of everyday life in toxic areas.

In short, this book is insightful for not only those interested in environmental protection, but also those who are interested in tourism studies, advocacy tourism, environmental communication, and an understanding of how our experiences shape what we learn and know about the world.

Una historia de amor inolvidable, pero lo m�s interesante de esta novela son sus dos protag�nicos: Juana Champion y Mr Dalmain, personajes a mi ver contrastantes. La honorable Juana es en realidad tan virtuosa? El bohemio Dalmain es el ni�o que todos creen? El descubrimiento de Dalmain se convierte en un acto de fe, una realidad indiscutible, pero para Juana rodeada de un muro de convencionalismos y de prejuicios esa verdad se convierte en una pesadilla de la que a duras penas logra escapar... Lo recomiendo para aquellos lectores que gustan del arte, las artes pl�sticas en particular, y por supuesto de una historia de amor que seguro no olvidar�.

Le� esta novela cuando ten�a 11 a�os de edad y desde el primer momento me cautiv�. Recuerdo que no pude dejar de leerla hasta que la termin�. Est� exquisitamente redactada y te hace transportarte en imnumerables ocasiones a compartir escena con los personajes principales. Fu� escrita hace m�s de un siglo y sigue siendo aun hoy en d�a una de mis historias favoritas. Llena de entrega y sacrificio por la persona amada. Se las recomiendo!
